The world doesn't understand the healing properties of a good Watchtower study. The highlight pen and bookbag therapy can cure even the most rabid Pedophile. I bet he didn't study his Watchtower enough. That's got to be the problem. NOT.

Your family must keep up appearances. They may well have thought that being baptized young you deserved a break. Now that you are an adult they are holding you to the party line. You sound ok with it. Glad to hear from you. Do post more. Welcome.

Do you miss "dressing up" for the meetings?
by dozy ini was thinking about this the other day when doing a bit of tidying up of my wardrobe.
all the kh suits are now pushed to the back of the wardrobe and i am seriously thinking about a visit to the charity shop to get rid of most of them.. for me one of the (few) enjoyable aspects of being a jw was getting dressed up.
my secular work very rarely involves putting on a dress suit & tie so i miss getting dressed up - smart suit , tie , shiny shoes , slapping on the aftershave.

I loved the feeling of wearing a suit complete with a shirt and tie. Since I was a kid and watched "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." I wanted to have a job wear I could wear a suit like Napolean Solo and Elia Kiriaken (sp). Add a nice watch and ring and I was in business. Having on freshly polished shoes completed the feeling. Yep, I loved it.

Welcom Freskalynn, your first post shows you are just a little too eager to swallow the bile produced by this latest Six Screens call. Sorry to hear it. Keep posting, there's lots of level headed and rational support here.

The Man with Golden Voice
by tenyearsafter innot that it is particularly pertinent to anything, did anyone catch the today show yesterday featuring ted williams (the man with the golden voice) where he was reunited with his 90 year old mother?
seems ted was raised in a very religious household with a jw dad, and mom couldn't understand how ted could have grown up to be such a huge disappointment to the family.
it just seemed an odd thing to bring up during a "poignant" reunion..

You can see that his nervous system is in high gear. He is rattled and stressed. He said he wanted a sedative and the psychologist at NBC helped him to breathe, meditate instead of medicate. His body is addicted regardless of what his mind says. The road he's on is going to either be a beginning or an end. I hope he finds people who will handle him with care. None of us know how much his addiction made him act cruelly to his family. He may well have been abusive, emotionally at least, of his family because of it. I hope they can forgive and support him to remain clean and benefit from this windfall.

After he was done with his talk I'm sure he walked off the stage and had his hand repeatedly shaken by the grateful elders who felt closer to Jehovah's Organization than ever before because they too wear a suit, a tie and get to stand in front of everyone and tell them to do what they themselves DO NOT DO. They have something to imitate and will be able to intimidate even better when they get to their home congregation. I hear them quoting "You have been warned." "Didn't we all appreciate getting that warning once again from the Governing Body?" Nope.

Remember that the winners write the history. The attacks were not necessary:
"Navy Secretary James Forrestal termed the intercepted messages "real evidence of a Japanese desire to get out of the war." "With the interception of these messages," notes historian Alperovitz (p. 177), "there could no longer be any real doubt as to the Japanese intentions; the maneuvers were overt and explicit and, most of all, official acts. Koichi Kido, Japan's Lord Privy Seal and a close advisor to the Emperor, later affirmed: "Our decision to seek a way out of this war, was made in early June before any atomic bomb had been dropped and Russia had not entered the war. It was already our decision."
In spite of this, on July 26 the leaders of the United States and Britain issued the Potsdam declaration, which included this grim ultimatum: "We call upon the government of Japan to proclaim now the unconditional surrender of all Japanese armed forces and to provide proper and adequate assurance of good faith in such action. The alternative for Japan is prompt and utter destruction."
Commenting on this draconian either-or proclamation, British historian J.F.C. Fuller wrote: "Not a word was said about the Emperor, because it would be unacceptable to the propaganda-fed American masses." (A Military History of the Western World [1987], p. 675.)
America's leaders understood Japan's desperate position: the Japanese were willing to end the war on any terms, as long as the Emperor was not molested. If the US leadership had not insisted on unconditional surrender -- that is, if they had made clear a willingness to permit the Emperor to remain in place -- the Japanese very likely would have surrendered immediately, thus saving many thousands of lives.
The sad irony is that, as it actually turned out, the American leaders decided anyway to retain the Emperor as a symbol of authority and continuity. They realized, correctly, that Hirohito was useful as a figurehead prop for their own occupation authority in postwar Japan."
Read about the two B29 bombings of Tokyo killing 100,000 people. They were a beaten people.
No, not necessary. Apologize? That's like a great white shark apologizing for feeding on a scuba diver. It is the nature of war and scientists to test their weapons on civilians.
